This little space has been a small hobby of mine since all the way back in the summer before I left for my freshman year in college and my url still had .blogspot.com at the end. It started out as a place for me to rant and ramble about random thoughts and life in general. I went through various phases of posting a lot and ignoring it completely, but I always came back. Slowly, I began to realize what I liked to talk about and I began to form an idea for what I wanted this space to be.
After almost 6 years of on and off blogging, I realized it was time for a change. This space isn’t what it was when I started it and I’m not the same writer, so when I was offered the opportunity for a redesign, I eagerly accepted! Ashley of Boldly Inspired Design did an amazing job and patiently put up with my many tweaks until everything was just right!
The new name initially came from a place of necessity. “Snapshots and Sweet Dreams” is not only a mouthful, it’s hard to remember and a really long URL. I wanted something shorter, classier, more sophisticated. The actual name came about from a conversation about calling my husband an “accidental hipster” when I was brainstorming and wondering if there was something there. But I don’t do anything accidental, so what’s the opposite of accidental? Intentional. Except I’m not a hipster, but I am quite chic. Intentionally Chic!
The more I thought about the name, the more I liked the philosophy that seemed to go along with it. Living life with intention and purpose, making conscious choices to be a better person every day, this is something I have found to be very important in my growth as a person. Living well, dressing nicely, being healthy, feeling happy and accomplished, growing stronger in faith, these aren’t things that just suddenly happen to us, they are goals that we must choose to pursue every moment of every day. We may not always succeed in achieving those goals, but the pursuit is an accomplishment by itself. Every day is an opportunity to change something from your “I’ve always wanted to” list to your “I’m doing this” list. The difference is simply taking that first step!
Thank you to all of my long time readers and welcome to those who are just now joining. I look forward to sharing an intentional life with all of you!
