I’m getting back into this ‘blogging regularly thing’ and it’s Friday, so you know what that means…..7 Quick Takes! A while back, this post was requested and I’m just now getting around to actually posting it so yay for being busy, life, and procrastination! I present to you, seven bloggers I follow regularly, as in subscribe to, read posts by and generally enjoy hearing from.
1. Jen Fulwiler at Conversion Diary
Jen is the queen of Catholic bloggers and also the host of this Friday 7 Quick Takes link-up. If you don’t read her blog for her insights about conversion and Catholicism, then read it for her sarcasm and self-deprecating humor. And if you ever need to feel better about your life, just look up one of her scorpion stories, you’ll quickly find yourself thanking God that at least your problems don’t involve crawling, stinging, nearly-impossible-to-kill pests.
2. Haley Stewart at Carrots for Michaelmas
The Stewarts are a garden-growing, feast-day-celebrating, healthy-eating, tattooed and all-around awesome couple. Haley is so down-to-earth, super sweet, and has an awesome sense of humor. Her series on NFP is an amazing resource for any couple, but particularly newlyweds or anyone who is just starting out with the whole NFP thing. Also, her kids are the cutest.
3. Cari Donaldson at Clan Donaldson
A little goofy, a little real and a whole lot Catholic, Cari does the homeschooling ‘we do what we want’ attitude so well that I can forgive her for the occasional Walking Dead recap posts. She’s much more practical and no-nonsense than I think I’ll ever be, yet irrational enough to still relate. If you’re into photography, check out her Theme Thursday link-up for a weekly inspiration challenge.
4. Dwija Borobia at House Unseen Life Unscripted
A homeschooling mom of six, Dwija makes light of the many (mis)adventures of a large family living a rural life. Stories involving dumb chickens, adorable baby pictures, and deep philosophical thoughts are just a few of the things you’ll find when visiting her blog. Her optimism and no-nonsense way of rolling with the punches is both inspiring and hilarious at turns.
5. Kathryn Whitaker at Team Whitaker
The Whitaker family is honestly one of the sweetest, most adorable families I’ve ever seen. Kathryn is an incredible example of a mom who somehow manages to do it all while keeping herself and her family looking fabulous. Her “How I Do It” posts give you an insight into some of her secrets, while her party planning gives me something to aspire to! Finally, if you or someone you know has experience with the NICU or a preemie baby, her stories about her son Luke will definitely strike a chord.
6. Bonnie Fulwiler at A Knotted Life
One of my newer discoveries and the only blogger I’ve actually met in person, Bonnie is the mother of the miracle baby whose story is being used to advance the cause of canonization for Fulton Sheen. She also has some awesome decorating ideas!
7. Kendra Tierney at Catholic All Year
Last but certainly not least, Kendra has some of the best parenting advice I’ve read in quite a long time, not to mention all her great Catholic ideas, and her awesome party planning skills. She gives me hope that even after becoming a parent someday, I can still do almost any of the things I like to do now as a childless person, like traveling, planning events, and so on.
Enjoy your weekend everyone and have fun checking out some new blogs!
