Linking up with Jen over at Conversion Diary!
1. After weeks of feeling like the only person on earth who hadn’t seen it yet, I finally got to see Frozen! The music didn’t disappoint, and the humor was spot on! The role of the females vs the males has been a bit controversial among our friends, with some absolutely hating the way the men were portrayed, but that’s a topic for another time.
Some research on the music led me to this song from Cantus Norway, an all-female choir. It’s very similar to the chanting version that was in the movie, but this includes a form of the hymn “Fairest Lord Jesus” in a language I don’t recognize.
2. Apparently Flappy Bird is the newest mindless, time-wasting game out there. I downloaded it and already hate the thing after only playing it about 5 times. You’re supposed to tap the screen to guide your bird through a series of gaps. Lets just say I suck at it. Not good for someone like me who has a competitive streak a mile wide. But if you like driving yourself mad with an infuriatingly difficult game, try it out!
Jamba Juice brought back the delicious Matcha Green Tea Blast smoothie! I haven’t had Jamba Juice very much since two summers ago when I worked as a summer RA and had it for breakfast every morning. The fact that I am willing to drink a smoothie when it is 10* outside should be proof of how much I love this drink! I usually don’t understand how people can consume frozen beverages in the wintertime, but this is completely worth it.
I made a purchase from Twice this week. It hasn’t come in yet, but I’m so excited for it to arrive! I do a lot of thrifting and bargain hunting for my clothes, but I still love the style and quality of brands like J.Crew, Madewell, Ann Taylor, LOFT, Banana Republic, etc. Twice is a way I can get all those great brands without paying the full price for them! They buy gently used clothes and then resell them for 60-70% off the original price. It’s not a cheap as the thrift store, but they have some great deals and you have the benefit of shopping online.
If you sign up by clicking on the photo or this link here, you can get $10 in store credit when you sign up, when you download the iPhone or iPad app, and when you send in clothes to sell!
They’re hiring currently and it’s too bad they’re located in San Francisco or I would apply in a heartbeat!
I spent a decent part of my Saturday last weekend in the kitchen. Since my mornings are often short on time, I wanted to make something I could have ready to eat in the mornings.
I found one on Pinterest from sugarfreemom.com, Personal Sized Baked Oatmeal.
The second recipe I combined from various things I saw on Pinterest. A lot included bread or biscuits for the crust, but I used frozen hash browns to keep it gluten free.
My ridiculous midwestern university decided that the way to make up for two days of cancelled classes at the beginning of the semester was to schedule two saturdays of make-up classes. Luckily, none of my professors are requiring attendance, but some other classes are being forced to come to class on a saturday. We should have known that our extension of Christmas break would be too good to be true.
I was perusing Pinterest the other day and came across the most gorgeous Kate Spade watch with a gold glitter strap. Let me go find a picture of it so you all can marvel at its beauty as well.
*2 hours later*
Wait, what was I doing before I fell into the black hole of beautiful images that is Pinterest? I should’ve known that wouldn’t be a short trip. Anyway. Gorgeous watch.
Just look at this beauty. But the amazing part of this story is not the watch, the amazing part is that as I was breathless in wonder at the sleek design of Kate Spade’s watches, my fiancé looked over and said “Oh is that the Metro Grand?”
Why yes it is…I didn’t even know the name of that watch, I just found it. How did HE know the name of the watch?
Apparently my fiancé has been researching Kate Spade watches. I know he is interested in watch companies right now and I’ve mentioned my love for Kate Spade in the past, so it makes sense, but it is also highly suspicious. Tis a mystery!
P.S. Bonus take: I recently rediscovered my folder of reaction gifs saved from my Tumblr days. (Haven’t been on Tumblr in forever, it’s a time suck worse than Pinterest. Had the fiancé change my password one semester for finals….haven’t been back since.) Two things. 1. My posts are about to get much geekier. 2. The amount of Matthew Crawley in that folder makes my heart hurt. Curse you Downton Abbey for breaking my heart into a million pieces!!*Some links in this post are referral links.
