This week has been kind of insane as my Christmas break is coming to a close and I’m heading back up to school and getting ready to start a new (and final) semester of school! My Mac charger died on Thursday so I’ve been computer-less since then. It’s not fun.
One of the many things I did this week was visit about 10 apartment complexes with the FI and pick out our top three favorites!
See this? Its the floor plans for our number 1 choice. We have an apartment picked out! Now we just have to wait a few more months before applying and hope that they have a space open for us! I hate waiting…I just want to move in right away!
For New Year’s Eve, my family and I spent the evening with the FI and his family, as has been our custom for the past few years. I brought my own champagne for the evening, because I like sweet wine and champagne is usually pretty dry. FI put it in the freezer to chill and promptly forgot. No champagne at midnight for me. Sad face. I did get a kiss though!
And I forgave him in the end, because I took the frozen bottles home and made mimosas for brunch the next day. Let me tell you, this Citrus Fusion sparkling wine from Barefoot Bubbly was absolute delicious mixed with orange juice! It’s the perfect thing for mimosas because it already has that citrus flavor. I know what we’ll be drinking the morning of the wedding!
Speaking of wedding plans, we signed the contract for our florist! I am pleased to welcome Becky of Lilly Lane as our florist! Now I just have to wait around to find out if the dark-centered anemones I want are going to be available in May. I’ll know better when we get a little closer, but I’m already formulating back-up plans just in case.
I took my mom shopping at The Fashion Mall this week. Her exact words were “I can’t afford to shop with you!” Oh mom, I can’t afford to shop with me either…
We did accomplish our goal of finding a mother of the bride dress that she liked, to my mother’s surprise. Apparently she was not at all hopeful for the trip. It’s navy blue, just like the bridesmaid dresses, which I was hoping to avoid, but it is long and a jersey material, while the BM dresses are short and satin/chiffon so I’m sure she won’t be mistaken for a bridesmaid. I’m still hoping she finds a dress that isn’t as close in color to the BM dresses, but I’m sure glad we have options!
While at the Fashion Mall, we took a trip through Restoration Hardware and found many interesting and amazing things.
If I ever happen to get accepted to blog for Weddingbee, I would choose the name of Miss Parisian. I think it fits and I already own a pair of Eiffel Tower earrings, so imagine my shock when I saw this in the corner of RH. It’s about 6ft tall, btw. Taller than me. I highly doubt this will ever find its way into my home, but I’d like to take it as a sign that I’ll become Miss Parisian someday!
Another awesome thing we saw is this Gramophone which amplifies the audio coming from your iPhone through the power of pure physics. No electricity or outlets required! I even tested it with my own iPhone in the store and it actually works! The bottom is just wood with holes cut in it for the sound to travel from your iPhone speakers through the horn. This is something I would actually use in my own home someday. This kind of technology blended with a vintage design is something that speaks to my heart!
I’m planning a trip to Chicago the weekend of MLK Jr Day, with the FI, MoH Blondie, BM Bubbly and GM S. Any suggestions of fun things to do? We found our hotel through Groupon, so that’s already booked. Now we’re looking for restaurants and other fun things to do during the day. Any places that are ‘must-see’ around the Magnificent Mile area? Thanks in advance!
