I wanted to have my girls stay with me the night before the wedding and all get ready together the next morning, so we needed a place that could fit me, MOH Blondie, BMs Classy, Sassy, Lovely, Bubbly and Giggly, and Bride’s Assistant/BMs Makeup and Hair Artist Sparkly. That’s a total of eight girls overnight, plus the probable addition of moms and younger girls the following morning. We need lotsa space, yo.
With the JW out of the picture, we started looking into other highly rated hotels in the downtown area. The two options we came up with were The Conrad and The Alexander. Both are five star hotels, with very high reviews. The Conrad has been in town for a few years now and The Alexander is just celebrating its first year in town.
After consulting with the fiancé, The Alexander was our clear preference. Both hotels are wonderful, but The Alexander is newer, more modern and much closer to the church where our ceremony will be. It’s so close that it almost seems ridiculous to hire a limo to take us there when we will be driving for literally five minutes.
Another amazing aspect of The Alexander is all the amazing artwork they have inside the hotel. They told me that only brides who stay in the hotel are allowed to take pictures there, so there’s a little bit of exclusivity and the scenery is breathtaking. There’s also a bar and a restaurant right inside, to take care of anything else we may need.
We couldn’t decide which rooms would work best for us, so we asked to take a tour of the different room options they had to see what the actual sizes were like. All their rooms are very nice, but the basic rooms are a bit small for the amount of people that we want to fit.
They do have a larger two-bedroom suite that includes a living room and kitchen area in addition to the two California King bedrooms and two separate bathrooms, which would be ideal, since eight ladies trying to get ready at the same time will need as much space as possible.
Sadly, I learned that the two-bedroom suite can only be reserved for stays longer than seven days until three weeks before the date.
I really want the larger suite, but I decided to go ahead and book two adjoining rooms for the girls and two for the guys, then call them three weeks before the date and see if I can get the suites.
The adjoining rooms are not ideal, since we would be more separated than if we had the larger suite, but the rooms are lovely and it will certainly work as a backup plan if we can’t get the suite.
We also booked a junior suite for the fiancé and I for the two nights after the wedding, before we fly out for our honeymoon!
