At the salon, I tried on about 7 or 8 dresses and really liked 2 of them. Unfortunately, I can’t post pictures of me in them because my Dearest Fiancé reads this blog and I wouldn’t want to give him any premature glimpses of the dress.
I will post links to the two that I liked and make him promise not to look. I think he’s trustworthy enough for that, don’t you?
The first one I really liked was a modified ball gown silhouette, cotton lace fabric, with ruching at the waist and a chapel length train. It also has POCKETS!! Which I think is the coolest thing I’ve seen on a wedding dress ever. I just get really excited when I find skirts or dresses with pockets. This dress is the front runner currently because I think it looks the best on me. The cotton lace makes it less formal which will work well with the grey suits we plan to have the men wearing. It’s a different style of dress than I thought I would be interested in, much more simple and with less decoration, but I like it because it is unique and not something I’ve seen on pinterest a hundred times. I am toying with the idea of adding a belt with some sparkly decoration to tie in with my to-be-determined headpiece and of course all dresses will be worn with some sort of sleeve if they don’t have it already.
The second one I liked was an empire waist silhouette, v-neck, with lace appliqués over a satin underskirt. It has lace cap sleeves and a lace back. The decoration continues down the skirt and it has a band of lace that goes around the entire bottom. I was particularly fond of this because of the decoration and the fact that it already has sleeves, but in photos, I don’t think the empire waist does anything for my already short stature. I like the way the other one looks much better in the pictures.
I have these two picked out at David’s Bridal and they are both very reasonably priced so I am confident that I will end up with a wedding dress somehow. (In the beginning, the prices of some gowns may have caused a slight panic!) Next, I am planning an appointment at Nancy’s Bridal Boutique, a slightly pricier shop that has a better selection and more individual attention. It also has a better selection of bridesmaid dresses and more of the styles that I like, so if I can find my dress there, my wedding party will be able to get a percentage off their dresses! Always on the lookout for a deal!
Stay tuned for updates after my next dress appointment!
