One of the things I decided to tackle early on was getting my entire ensemble together. Other things had to wait until a few months closer, but in the meantime, I could figure out every little detail of my attire for the day. Once I had the dress, and the shoes, the next logical step is of course…a wedding day scent?
Okay, maybe not the next logical step. Not everyone agrees on the necessity of a signature scent for your wedding day, but I love perfumes and I absolutely love the idea of having a special one that I can associate with my wedding day and continue to wear on special occasions after that.
Now to decide which one!
My everyday perfume is Marc Jacob’s Daisy Eau So Fresh and I really love how fresh and light it is. I was hoping to find something similar but with a scent that was a little deeper and more ‘special occasion’
I considered Dolce and Gabbana’s Light Blue as I love the scent, but I already have my blue shoes for a ‘something blue’. Plus, I liked the idea of having a brand new perfume that the FI and I could associate strictly with the wedding and special occasions in the future. I think LB would be a wonderful scent for a beach wedding because it’s so light and fresh.
So off to Sephora I go…and find Marc Jacobs Dot! “Perfect!” I say to myself, “It’s unique, somewhat floral, lasts a long time and it’s a definite special occasion scent!” And so, Dot is purchased and placed in my closet to await the wedding day. One more thing checked off the list, right? Well….
I happened to walk through the Macy’s perfume section and was presented with a scent strip by a saleslady. This perfume was exactly what I was looking for, a light floral, much like Daisy ESF, but slightly deeper and more sophisticated scents as well. The description says it has notes of Asian pear, black raspberry, mango, pink peony, orange blossom, violet, cedarwood, sandalwood, cashmere musk, and vanilla. The Asian pear and mango give it a sweeter scent, while the sandalwood and musk add the depth and sophistication I was looking for. Overall, perfection.
This amazing perfume was Bon Chic from BCBGMAXAZRIA. The name is French? How adorable! And it means ‘good style’? Even better!
Now the real dilemma started. I had already purchased an expensive perfume for the wedding scent and I couldn’t justify two, so I decided to wait and see. A few weeks later, I was shopping at T.J. Maxx (it’s a dangerous place ladies!) and I came across the Bon Chic gift set that included the full size, body lotion, shower gel AND a little mini bottle! Isn’t it the most adorable thing ever? And best of all, I got it…
for only $30!!
Overall a win, I’d say. I did run the scent past the FI once or twice to make sure he liked it before deciding for certain, but once he said he liked it, I was sold.
Did you have trouble deciding on a wedding day perfume? What kind of things would you look for in a special occasion scent?
