After we made it back to the hotel, it was time to get dressed and finish getting ready. The younger members of the bridal party, my two youngest sisters who had not stayed in the hotel overnight, arrived along with my mom.
Our flowers also arrived at the hotel around this time. The florist, Becky from Lilly Lane, told me that my bouquet was one of her all-time favorites. Maybe she says that to all her brides, but I like to think it was true, because it was a pretty awesome bouquet. It was also kind of huge, which made it hard to hold with only one hand!
While the bridesmaids finished up, it was time for me to tackle the biggest challenge of my morning…getting into my dress. To be fair, it wasn’t so much a challenge for me as it was for my my mom and maid of honor, who were tasked with making sure the corset back was laying smoothly, while being tightened enough that it wasn’t going anywhere, but not too tight so I could still breath and sit down! They did a fabulous job, and I was (mostly) comfortable the entire day! Well, as comfortable as a long, heavy dress with sequins and beads and tulle and corset boning can be. There is no beauty without pain, or so they say. And it was totally worth it.
Once the dress was on and secure, all that was left was the final details. Shoes, jewelry, perfume, clutch, and just like that, I’m ready to get married!
