1. Italian Festival
This past weekend was the Holy Rosary Italian Festival. It returned this year after taking a year off. I didn’t realize how much I missed it until it came back! On Saturday, I shot some photos for the Festival organizers, and posted some photos on the official Italian Festival Instagram account. This is also where I performed in “The Bear” with the Holy Rosary Theater Guild. Which brings me to my next thing…
2. “The Bear” Holy Rosary Theater Guild
Last weekend was our first performance of “The Bear” and it went surprisingly well! Surprising to me, anyway. I only forgot one thing during the first performance and managed to remember it during the second time. I was crazy nervous about this whole thing and it was incredibly stressful trying to get everything together, but in spite of all that, I enjoyed doing it in the end! I’m mostly excited to see where the group goes from here because I would love to get back into some performing. Since the dear fiancé and I met while doing a play, I think it would be fitting to do some more acting together!
3. Father’s Day
Father’s Day was this past Sunday, and my family hung out with my dad’s side of the family. I took some photos for the family and posted them on my photography business page. I was so excited because I finally had some digital stuff to post! The family seemed to like the photos that I posted, despite being difficult when I was actually taking the photos. It seems like every family has a few, those people who seem to think that a camera pointed in their direction is going to *actually* shoot them or something, and they avoid photos at all cost!
I got my hands on the newest version of Lightroom this week and I’ve had some time to play around with it and work on some photos. I shot a few photos of the flowers blooming around. I just love the way I can edit photos with this software. It’s so much more user friendly than Photoshop and I can do the things I want much easier and quicker.
5. KofC Dinner
I was privileged to be invited to dinner with the fiancé held by the Knights of Columbus council in honor of the associate pastor of Holy Rosary and hopefully the priest who will preside at our wedding, Father Magiera, and the years of service he has given to our parish. It was held at a wonderful restaurant downtown and it was a great evening, despite the bittersweet occasion. It was strange to be the youngest couple there and I’m pretty sure the only couple that isn’t yet married. I looked around the room and saw so many couples, young and old, in various stages of life, with some still having kids and some whose children are all grown up. The interesting thing was that I could look at so many of the couples and say “I hope I’m like that someday…”. I know many older couples are inspired and happy to see young couples growing up and doing good things in the community, but as a young adult, I am inspired by the parents I see around me who are raising well behaved children and running organized households. It gives me hope that I will be able to do the same someday.
6. Going gluten-free!
I recently made the decision to go gluten-free, in an attempt to better my health and give me more energy. It’s been about two-three weeks, and I’ve been slowly easing into it, reading more labels and learning what sort of products are truly gluten free and what I can and can’t eat. It’s been a challenge so far, because so much is made with wheat, but I’m starting to get the hang of it! I’ve been eating a lot more veggies and substituting corn and rice products for the wheat. Gluten-free products can get very expensive, so I’ve been trying to just go without a lot of pasta, rather than buying ‘gluten-free pasta’ and other sorts of foods. It’s also inspired me to start baking more, so that I can make breads and muffins with oats and things like that instead of wheat.
7. Bridal Party Sleepover
This weekend was a bridal party weekend with the guys going out camping and the girls having an indoor crafting sleepover. This sleepover happened at my aunt’s house (because I can’t fit seven girls in my house overnight) and I was without wifi for 24hours, which is why this post is happening now and not yesterday! The evening and this morning was an absolutely great time, with lots of food and laughter! We did so much that I think I may have to put it all in a separate blog post! Be on the lookout for that and have a great week!
