Hi everyone! Quick post today as I’m going into a pretty busy weekend and I’m working on a special project for tomorrow. *hinthint* =)
Today I have my January Birchbox to show you. I have to say that I’ve been kind of disappointed with Birchbox lately. Of all the beauty boxes I subscribe to, I think Birchbox gives me the least amount of product for the money. Ipsy has really been stepping up their game lately and Birchbox is going to have to do the same if they want to survive.
So the theme of January’s box was “Best Year Ever”
They included a big fold out poster with a list of the top products for 2013.
Birchbox has really lost the idea of ‘deluxe samples’, which is what they originally advertised. Sometime last year they removed that phrase from their website and now it seems like the samples are just getting smaller and smaller. This month they included 4 regular samples and one ‘beauty extra’.
The beauty extra I received was two small packets of Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream. I’ve tried a few Fresh products and they’re pretty good so I’m willing to try this. Full size $42
Ojon damage reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum. Hair oils are a big thing in the beauty world these days. I probably have 5-6 samples of hair oils from different brands. They are nice for the winter though, when your hair will be dry and damaged from the weather. Full size, $25
Harvey Prince Skinny Chic. This is the second Harvey Prince scent that I have tried through Birchbox. This would be a nice spring/summer scent. It has a citrus scent at first, which is listed as lemon and white grapefruit, then dries down to a nice light floral scent. Full size $21-55
alessandro Nail Polish in Blue Lagoon. I’ve never heard anything about this nail polish company before so I don’t know anything about their formula, but this is a pretty color of blue. Birchbox says they are launching exclusively on Birchbox’s website. It supposed to be extra opaque with a satiny formula and wide brush. Full size, $12
theBalm cosmetics Put a Lid On It Eyelid Primer. I have a bajillion eye primers already, but I can always try a new one. Full size $18
Overall, there’s not really anything I’m incredibly excited about and that’s really the main reason I kept Birchbox. I keep thinking that I should cancel it, but I know that as soon as I do, they will put out an amazing box.
We have been getting extremely cold weather here lately, it’s absolutely frigid! Perfect weather for staying inside with a cup of hot chocolate though!
