For the first time in a while, I’ve actually settled on a quick, less than 10min, makeup routine that I can use daily.
Through much trial and error, I’ve settled on a handful of products that I like enough to continue using almost every day. Sundays and special occasions are a different story, but often a few of these products will end up being used after all.
This is my top all-time favorite foundation for every day wear. It’s a loose powder, so you don’t have to worry about setting it like you would liquid. It’s easier to get even coverage than with a liquid and you end up with a nice smooth finish that evens out the skin tone and covers blemishes, but doesn’t look caked on.
From my experience, it also wears better than a liquid, so anyone who struggles with oily skin would benefit nicely. It will wear off over time, but it doesn’t tend to melt off and crease like a liquid would.
This stuff is seriously amazing. I was skeptical at first, but after a little getting used to it, I’m totally sold. It’s really nice to have a powder concealer to go with the powder foundation, because the two blend almost perfectly to cover practically anything without having to layer it on. I use this as both an under eye concealer and a blemish concealer.
MAC products are legendary among makeup artists, so anything they create is going to be high quality, but their eye products are always what attract me. Their “Paint Pots” are long-wearing creaseless cream eyeshadows, designed for use as a base and to intensify eyeshadows. Bare Study is a very light champagne color, making it the perfect base for an every day eye look.
I’ll admit, I’ve worn this for more than 24 hours before, slept in it and so on, without it wearing off or creasing.
My newest go to eyeshadow palette is the Softbox 2 from Smashbox. I picked this up on sale, as it has been discontinued, but I don’t remember where.
Before this, I was hooked on the Naked 2 palette, which I still love, but the after affects of a few encounters with the floor made me a bit more cautious about traveling with it.
This palette is a bit more sturdy and a little more compact, so I feel safer tossing it into a bag and running off. I use the middle bottom as my all-over/lid color, the top right on my brow bone, the left two as crease colors depending on the day, and the bottom right to smudge out my liner.
As much as I love a good old fashioned wooden eyeliner pencil, nothing beats the convenience of a twist up. Always sharp, won’t break off on you (mostly), more durable.
Earthline was the first eyeliner color I bought from MAC in my search for the perfect dark brown. I found that it leaned more toward the taupe area of things with a bit of grey in it, but it works well for daily wear since the grey tones the color down just a bit. ( I did end up finding my perfect brown in a wooden pencil. It’s called Stubborn Brown, sounds about accurate, amirite?)
To finish off my look, I just curl my lashes and put on mascara. I’m currently using LashBlast Fusion, which works well for day-to-day. I have yet to be wowed by any particular mascara, my lashes just take whatever help they can get.
